at the UCwdc world championships of country dance.

Local Calgarians set out to bring home World Champion Country Dance title … and that’s just what they did !!

Thousands of professional and amateur competitors, from over 17 countries including Canada made the long and sometimes arduous journey to Orlando, FL., to compete in the 20th Annual World Country Dance Championships held from January 1st to the 6th, 2011.

Many people participate in and enjoy Country dancing but competitive dancers take it to a whole other level. Couples and individuals, amateurs as well as professionals, dance for a variety of reasons. “I love to be on the floor with my partner or with my students. There is no greater feeling than being able to share something so special with others.” Keith says. For most Canadian competitors their journey to the World Championships each year begins with the Calgary Dance Stampede. This year the Calgary Dance Stampede runs April 27-29, 2012 and is being held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Calgary. So you too can come out and see what the excitement is all about. "You have three days to be AMAZED"

We wish to extend our congratulations to everyone that competed at the World Championships. It is an accomplishment merely to get on the floor and dance. And for those of you that made the podium or won a World Championship, it is even more rewarding.
We also want to extend our respect and admiration to our fellow professional's that danced with students in Pro-Am competition. It is a physically and sometimes difficult path you have choose as a living. But, as they say, we feel your pain and revel in your successes ... Congratulations to all!
